Postage
Independent study is most often conducted
by the exchange of material through the mail. Each independent study office
(with the exception of ASC, MSCD, and CSU-Pueblo) pays the postage on corrected
assignments returned to students, except when airmail outside the United
States is requested. Students pay postage on all assignments and exams sent
for grading. Students enrolling at ASC, MSCD, and CSU-Pueblo should include postage-paid,
self-addressed return envelopes with each assignment. CU-Boulder, UNC, and
Colorado State pay postage on examinations sent for grading and mailed within
the U.S.
All mail in the United States and its possessions, including APO and FPO
addresses, is sent by air. If you live outside the country and wish to have
graded material returned airmail, please inquire at the appropriate independent
study office to determine the additional amount to be included with your
registration fee (see below). Mail to Canada and Mexico is delivered to
those countries by air; the additional airmail postage ensures that material
also travels by air within those countries. (Airmail rates reflect governmental
increases and are subject to change without prior notice.) If you do request
airmail service, use lightweight paper, such as onionskin, for your assignments.
The following amounts will be assessed for airmail service
by CU-Boulder (APO and FPO addresses not included):
Canada and Mexico-$23 Central America, South America, West Indies-$47 Other
Overseas-$53.
ASC and Colorado State require that all students outside the
U.S. (excluding APO/FPO addresses and U.S. possessions) pay a fee of $40
for airmail postage at the time of registration. Colorado State-Pueblo requires a $45 postage charge at time of registration. UCCS charges the current postal rate for airmail.
