Financial Aid
Many continuing education programs are not
degree granting. Therefore, federal, state, or institutional grants may
not apply to independent study. You are encouraged to seek scholarship aid
from organizations and local civic groups that may sponsor such study.
For those of you in degree granting programs, financial aid may apply in
some cases. You are encouraged to contact the school directly.
To receive veterans education benefits, you must get in contact with the
Veterans Administration (VA) office at the institution in which you plan
to enroll. In general, a person eligible for VA benefits may receive an
educational assistance allowance for pursuit of an independent study course
under the following conditions:
The course is offered by a college or university that is fully accredited
by one of the six regional accrediting agencies.
The course leads to or is fully creditable toward a standard college degree,
which may include external degree programs given by accredited colleges
and universities.
For more information, contact the VA office and the financial aid office
at the institution in which you plan to enroll.
Colorado State and CSU-Pueblo courses are approved for the DANTES program.
Eligible military personnel should process CANTES applications through their
education office.
